Barbara grew up in Zurich. After graduating from high school in 1991 she has repeatedly worked at the Brancaia Wine Shop. She didn't, however, discover her fondness for wine right away, but decided to study architecture. After two years she had a creative crisis and holed up in the family's estate in Tuscany. That did it. She went back to Zurich and got the wine merchant's diploma. The next year saw her at Domaine des Balisiers in Geneva - with approx. 62a. Switzerland's largest producer of biological wine - as a trainee. Barbara worked in the vineyards for 6 months, then in the cellar. After a half-year stint at the Brancaia Wine Shop, co-managing purchases and organising major tastings, she began to study oenology at the technical college of higher wine education at Wädenswil.
Since 1998 Barbara has been responsible for the wine production at Brancaia and Brancaia in Maremma. |
