Brancaia in Maremma

BRANCAIA in Maremma is located in the Morellino di Scansano cultivation area, in the Grosseto Province.

Soil Type: A sandy, loamy soil consists of two-thirds sand and one-third silt and clay. The percentage of rocks in the soil shows a medium degree of fragmentation providing a good drainige potential. The soil fertility is moderate.

Climate: The mediterranean climate and the close location to the coast generate very hot summers and very mild winters. At the same time this region has massive differences between day- and nighttime temperatures. A nearly constant coastal breeze assures a continuous ventilation of the vineyards.

Cultivation: BRANCAIA in Maremma follows the guidelines for an integrated production.
We have been participating in program 2078/92 regarding for the restriction of fertilisers and chemical pesticides since 1996. We do not use any conventional insecticides. In this way, useful insects, such as the scale insect, the ladybird or the mite, can multiply. Through a partial greening, we also increase the population of useful creatures.
